SOUTH COAST SECTION

This year the rallies were not successful compared to other years. Our rally at Bosham at Whitsun attracted most members. Brian Naylor and A. G. Earl managed to come by boat but the majority arrived by car and Southdown bus. We managed to swap yarns around the crowded bar of the Bosham S.C. It may have been the rain which, with the exception of Brian Naylor, sent members to a warm bed under a tiled roof. Two years ago the moorings were crowded with dinghy cruisers sleeping off a hangover.
August weekend saw ‘Tubby’ Reeves and Eric Coleman off to the Folly Inn. I think they enjoyed it. Members may like to know about J.D. R++v+s who after an evening ashore dressed in immaculate white had to walk through knee deep mud to his stranded vessel. I must confess that I could not attend the Folly rally, and of the remaining two meetings nobody from the Portsmouth area could attend.
Our Vice-President, Brian Naylor, crossed the channel in his small craft. Congratulations, Brian, but have you mended that strain,
One of our Thames members, John Deacon, took his fourteen footer for the first time to the Solent and enjoyed himself. John’s preparations for this trip should serve as an example to the D.C.A. members who cannot be bothered with safety equipment. Well done!
