North London Group
Following the reorganisation of the D.C.A. into Groups rather than into Coastal Sections, a meeting was called in February by Joan Abrams of those likely to be interested in the activities of a North London Group. At this meeting the above name was agreed upon, implying London north of the Thames. Members within this area and those interested should notify the General Secretary. A rough count showed that about eight boats would be based on the Blackwater so the prospects for this season are fairly bright. Two members’ prams should be available at Bradwell for boat owners while opportunities for crews and novices will be good.
A second meeting was arranged in March for two talks and for discussion on ‘The Art of Dinghy Cruising’ and ‘Fitting Out’. As the assembled company were all boat owners the second subject was taken first and, although this was by no means fully dealt with by 11 p.m. when the meeting closed, the general exchange of ideas and information was very useful.
Thanks are due to Joan Abrams for the use of her flat and for the refreshments which she has kindly provided on both these occasions.
Spithead Group
This group, led by Les Gill, was formed on July 11th. Many services are offered to members and winter meetings are planned. Details will appear in our next issue.
