Many members feel that we do not get together enough as an Association or so it appeared from discussion at the AGM. There are the few who are content to sail alone year after year, only hearing from other members occasionally, and belonging to the D.C.A. chiefly because of the Bulletins. There are, it seems, others who feel that an Association should enable them to meet other dinghy cruisers. Hence attempts to organise rallies, which have not always in the past been completely successful. It is not always easy to collect enough members in any one place at any one weekend — we are not very thick on the ground. There will be several rallies during the coming season, and we hope that experienced as well as less experienced members will make some effort to support them. It is there that they can pass on their experience to others most easily.
There are other forms of personal contact. A system is being evolved of Area Officers. There are members who know a particular cruising area well, and will help and advise those who wish to sail there. For instance, Charles Stock will answer any queries about the east coast area, Ron Dean will deal with the south coast, of which he knows Falmouth well. Other south coast members will help him to answer queries about their own districts.
The editor is very grateful to those who have responded to the appeal for articles. At the moment there is a small surplus — those whose article does not appear this time will probably see it in the spring number. This is a much more satisfactory state of affairs — may it continue! J.A.
