D.C.A. Scotland

Adam Murrie 1969 Q3 Bulletin 045/04 Locations: Clyde Boats: National 12

At a meeting held in Glasgow on Tuesday 6th May, it was decided to form a Scottish Group of the D.C.A. Three members were present, two others who aim to join, and the vice-commodore of the Clyde Cruising Club.

It may seem odd that the latter was present, but when you understand that at our first meeting on 10th April the matter of joining C.C.C. was raised, it was thought that a dinghy cruising section within C.C.C. would be most desirable if C.C.C. would set it up for dinghy cruising enthusiasts to run. The merits of such an organisation were considered doubtful, but, since no harm would result from talks, it was decided to arrange a meeting with that club’s representative.

Hence the presence of the v-c at the second meeting. C.C.C. reaction to the proposal was completely negative, although dinghy cruising enthusiasts would be welcome as individual members.

The meeting then proceeded to discuss the formation of a group, and, since there are D.C.A. members in all corners of Scotland, it was decided to form a national group that would include these members.

It was agreed that winter meetings should be held, and that at least one summer meeting afloat. Adam Murrie was appointed secretary: (88 Belvedere Crescent, Bishopriggs, Glasgow).

A rally is planned for September.
