Evening meetings held on the first Wednesday each month (May through September) at The Churchillian PH, Portsdown Hill, Portsmouth, STARTING 7 pm. Meetings are informal. Members, wives and girlfriends are welcome.

MIDLANDS GROUP RALLIES (Details from Jim Smith)

AVON RALLY May 1st/2nd — Tewkesbury to below Strensham Lock. Launch 1100 Bathurst’s Boatyard, Tewkesbury. Lunch at the Fleet Inn, Twyning (latecomers may launch here). Rally downstream of Strensham Lock Saturday evening; camping ashore is possible. Nearest village (for supplies) Eckington. Those attending by road can reach the lock via the lane over the level crossing in the village. O.S. maps available for genuine enquiries. This rally suitable for novices and families.

BROADS RALLY May 29th/30th/31st (Whitsun) — Thurne. Launching possible at the rally point: Lion PH Thurne, 1600 Saturday 29th May. Mooring in the dyke of the main river or camping ashore nearby. Day sailing to places of interest and return at night, plans depend on the weather.

September 18th/19th. Rally planned for this date, venue not yet fixed.

Jim Smith personally wishes to thank all those who helped at Crystal Palace in getting his boat in and out — no mean feat! He would also like to say a special ‘thank you’ to John Peel who turned out early to meet him at Northolt at 7.30 am on Saturday to pilot him there.
