LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor,
May I offer advice to anyone attending the DCA rally at Poole Harbour on August 25-27. There is a slip by the lifeboat house near the eastern end of Poole Quay. The surface is sand and mud.
As fairly regular visitors to Poole for several years, we use the slip at the Baiter car park. This will be found by following the shoreline eastwards from Poole Quay, past the lifeboat house. There is a large car park space for trailers, and an excellent slip about ten feet in width which can be used at any state of the tide, with the possible exception of a very low spring tide. Launching our Drascombe Dabber at this point is easy, but I should not care to try the lifeboat slip without plenty of strong arms to help. One is charged for the facilities at the Baiter, but we considered £1.20 per day last year to be reasonable for car park and use of the slipway.
If any member is sailing on Poole Harbour this summer, look out for a Drascombe Dabber with the DCA burgee; it might be…
