LETTER TO THE EDITOR from Graham Whiteland Dear Mrs Abrams

Unknown author 1987 Q4 Bulletin 117/10a Boats: Drascombe

Dear Mrs Abrams

I convey fraternal greetings from the Drascombe Association formed earlier this year to put Drascombe owners in touch with each other.

At our first General Meeting last month we changed our name, since you don’t have to own a Drascombe to join: touching, coveting, chartering and sailing (but not stealing) would bring entitlement. However, it is your 36 members who do own Drascombes that I want to reach, with your co-operation. Several DCA members were at our meeting, and it was agreed I write this letter and invite others to join us. It is obvious the two associations share common aims: the enjoyment of cruising, sharing experiences, and contact through rallies and bulletins. Indeed, I see your summer ’87 Bulletin has two splendid Drascombe articles, by Peter Knape and Jim Hopwood, and our new chairman, John Baden, recounts his cruise along the Normandy coast for the spring ’87 edition.

Our president is John Watkinson (who designed them), and our secretary Luke Churchouse who has just retired after many years with Honnor Marine (who build them). Anyone wanting to join should write to Luke at:

Stoodley, Holne, S. Devon TQ13 7RY

If your secretary will send me a DCA membership form, I shall apply to become your 37th Drascombe owner!

Yours sincerely, Graham Whiteland PUBLICITY OFFICER DRASCOMBE ASSOCIATION
