ADVANCE NOTICE FOR LONDON WINTER MEETINGS
The ’88/’89 programme is not yet settled, and I would welcome members’ suggestions, but the venue and dates have been booked.
The Bung Hole closed very early, and the drinks were very expensive, so I have found a new venue for our meetings — this is the Rose & Crown public house in Columbo St, London SE1. It is about eight minutes’ walk from either Waterloo main line or Blackfriars underground. From Blackfriars take exit 5, cross the bridge, and Columbo Street is a little way along Blackfriars Road on the right-hand side. From Waterloo, leave by the eastern entrance, cross the road at the pedestrian lights, turn left and then second on the right into Exton St; follow this through Roupell St into Weymouth St, and you will see the Rose & Crown lying back on the left.
Starting time for all events 7 pm for 7.30. Dates as follows (all Fridays):
7th October 1988
Bring & Buy Sale of boat bits and what-have-you, plus short talks and/or slide presentations by members.
4th November 1988
Members’ presentations of short talks and slide showings — South Coast, other areas†, foreign — any topic considered.
Please let me know what you would be prepared to show.
2nd December 1988
†Norfolk Broads and East Coast evening. Ralph Thompson’s 20 minute film, Summer Breezes (of the Broads) and other East Coast presentations.
13th January 1989
AGM (could follow a visit to the Boat Show).
3rd February 1989
Liz Fierbusch, RYA Senior Instructor, on ‘Safety and Heavy Weather Sailing’.*
3rd March 1989

I hope to provide reports for the Bulletin where appropriate.
A member said, “… but I wouldn’t go out in heavy weather.” Nor would I, but I might be very keen on getting back in heavy weather!
