EAST COAST RALLIES REPORT
River Orwell (25/26 June)
Only one member (Peter Bick) made it afloat to the venue. Peter had a wet sail across Dovercourt Bay having launched in the Walton Backwaters
Paglesham River Roach (23/24 July)
Attempts were made to get to this venue by several members, but the elements were against us. It rained all day Saturday with very strong winds. Very disappointing as this is usually a popular rally.
Walton Backwaters (20/21 August)
The forecast, was SW 6-7, but the evening was clear and sunny. Gail, Lorna and I borrowed a boat to arrive at the Stone on Saturday evening. Sensible members coming from further afield had given up earlier in the day.
Osea Island, River Blackwater (3/4 September)
Three boats attended and for once the poor forecast was wrong. A fresh breeze on Saturday moderated by Sunday to give good sailing.
Next year I’m handing over the crystal ball to Stanley Dean in the hopes that he can pick some better weather. A most disappointing year.
