A total of seven boats attended the rally:

Saturday only: Stewart Calcutt — Cadet Ken & Mary O’Halloran + dog ‘Fudge’ in lifejacket — Wayfarer

All boats rigged and launched by 1100. Wind variable northerly. Plenty of tacking practise. All crews had lunch at north end of lake. Saturday night five persons went for a short walk, then settled in the cabin of Chris Battersby’s boat complete with friendly glow and warmth of Tilley lamp. After a chill night, we were wakened by the wildlife — ducks and woodpecker — dawn chorus.

NW Rally Report — Derwentwater 13/14th June by Peter Filshie

Ten Boats attended, and everyone enjoyed glorious weather, although the low water level caused a few problems at times. Some members arrived on the Friday evening, but most launched on the Saturday from Derwentwater Marina. There is access to the water from the Camping and Caravanning Club site nearby, and one Mirror and a Wayfarer launched there. The wind was fairly light initially on Saturday, but after a picnic lunch on one of the islands — and a swim for some of the keener members — the afternoon SW breeze allowed a fine enjoyable sail. Seven boats spent a quiet night in one of the bays in the SW corner, and on Sunday a good SW breeze produced some white horses, and several capsized dinghies — not DCA! Chris Battersby went to the rescue of one upturned dinghy, but a broken shear pin cut the rescue short, and when his anchor starting dragging he carried out a very quick repair! The approaches to the marina were so shallow that some of the larger resident yachts were trapped within and unable to leave. People and boats participating included Gerald Harrison (Lugger), Tim Evans (West Wight Potter), Cliff Laycock (Dabber), Chris Battersby (Sailfish), David Morton (Wayfarer), Stuart Calcutt (Cadet), Ken & Mary O’Halloran-Brown (Wayfarer), Brian McClellan (Mirror), Ian Thurlow (Mirror?), Bob Buttle (Wayfarer), plus assorted crews.
