LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Joan,

Unknown author 1998 Q4 Bulletin 161/10B

Exposure to the cold, made much more dangerous when one is also wet, is a constant threat and risk for all recreational sailors, especially in small open boats. We need to take this risk seriously, as recent correspondence in the Bulletin indicates. There was an excellent Cold/Wet Symposium reported in the Journal of the Royal Naval Medical Service - 1972, vol LVIII, pages 156 et seq. There are eight articles covering all aspects of the associated problems such as the problem of Cold/Wet survival, Cold immersion and swimming, C/W exposure ashore, Cold water immersion and Cold accidental hypothermia. These articles are readily comprehended.

I have given this issue of the Journal to our Librarian so than anyone interested can borrow it. This is useful reading for us all.
