I was interested in reading the article on Gunter Rig Modified by E F Knight in your latest issue No 164 ( HYPERLINK "164-24.doc" 164-24).

If I look at figure 71 in that article, the lacing at the lower end of the gaff is not ideal for lowering the gaff in a hurry. I attach a brief drawing of what I believe is a preferable way of doing the lacing! This is certainly the method recommended for all Drascombe Luggers, and in my experience, works well.
