LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Ms Abrams,

Unknown author 2003 Q2 Bulletin 179/18 Boats: Drascombe, Drascombe Dabber

Dear Ms Abrams,

Back in August ’02, Mr Mike Williams sent some Bulletins and information on articles (index) - problem was the prison didn’t allow them in (some foolish rule) but at long last I got hold of them and worked which ones I most wanted, sent him a letter and list of articles asking about photo-copying cost. Very usefully information which I was seeking some time! I had the idea of buying a Pelican or Drascombe Dabber but now have learned about various “light” craft from 7' 10" to 14" open and with cabins.

A Mr Rob White of Messing About in Boats his writes articles and letters anyhow he tells me of his 12' x 36" sailboat that weights only 30lbs a bit much for most persons yet gives one ideas a 12'-13' sail/row boat at 70-90 lbs with 30-40 lbs of gear to last a week or longer.

Other than a postcard from J.C in Kent I haven’t heard from any members. Ideally I’d like to know just what equipment persons take on their “light” boats for a week long trip?

Also in the same issue of Messing About in Boats that featured your group (not sure on the date) anyhow there was a group Historic Canoe + Kayak Association c/o Mr Tony Ford, FRG’s, Am Kurpark 4, 37444 St Andreasberg, Germany. Know anything about them/him? I wrote same time I wrote you but never heard anything back. Also know any kayaking clubs or groups?

Addresses please

Thank you for your help Herbert Diaz
